Elm is a steady pup. He is a great playmate and loves to be close to people, especially once he is tuckered out. When introduced to our friend’s larger dog, he was the one who was most interested and not at all put off by the new dog. He also warms well to new people, though his personality is a bit more subtle. He has a more corgi shape – with shorter legs. He is a sweet dog. He does have a voice, but he is not pesky with his barking. Adoption Fee: $500 About the litter in general… We have been the lucky foster home for the TREE puppies. They came to Milo from Merced, and it seems they were clearly loved and nurtured as pups. Right from the start, they were comfortable with being handled and with people of all ages. Early in their stay, we had a 3- and 5-year-old over to meet them – and they held each and every pup. Not one puppy tried to get away…not one was dodging the attention. They were all willing to be held in laps – on fronts and backs. They could not have done better with the new kids. They seem to be adaptable and solid travelers. They spent hours in a kennel during their trip to Milo – they cried a bit, but they were, in general, great sports even in a stressful and new situation. They have been in the cars back and forth to Milo twice at this writing, and they have been terrific passengers. For the last two trips, their kennels were clean after hours of travel. Quite amazingly, they are already doing well with the early stages of potty training. All of them will go the minute they are taken from pen to grass – they do still use pee-pads in their pen, but for puppies, they are showing a great understanding of the process. Of course, time will need to be spent potty training them – but they are already showing positive signs. We have fostered many litters, and usually, there is a clear alpha dog – but NOT in this group. It makes us think that maybe they were raised by/with an older dog who showed them the ropes. They seem so calm, loved and secure. They have all done very well with our two Milo graduates (both mixed-breed dogs – 25 pounds and 19 pounds). They are interested in our dogs, but they also play alone or with their littermates. None of them have had a negative reaction or response to anything our dogs have done – and our dogs love them. We have two feeding bowls, and all 8 puppies move freely between them. They do not resource guard – but they will tell their brother or sister to move out of the way if they are being squeezed out. They love to play with chew toys, and they love to run and play in the sand and grass. A few of them were interested in the sprinklers…no skittishness when the water was on. Overall, these pups are amazing. They are playful, interested, smart and sweet. We will really miss them, but we are so excited for them all to find their forever homes. Anyone would be lucky to have one of these pups – and how cute are they?
