"We are looking for a new home for our 6-year old Carolina dog Sam. My wife got Sam from a friend who bred Carolina dogs before we were married.
Sam is a personable, intelligent, and loving dog. He is very pack-oriented and would never run away. He is also excellent in cars, and has never gotten in a fight with other dogs, having been exposed to dog parks in San Francisco throughout his youth.
We have discovered that unfortunately Sam is not very good with small children- which has become a problem with our adventurous 18-month old daughter. He is rather nervous around kids and can be mouthy around them, which we do not consider safe. He has never caused any actual damage, but he is a powerful 65-pound dog. Actually the two got along quite well during most of the last 1.5 years (as the photos demonstrate) but the rare exceptions have forced us to make the sad decision to re-home Sam.
Sam would do best with a young single person, or older person or couple. He is extremely warm and loving and so we anticipate that he will quickly charm a new owner."
