"Tuscan is a Spayed Female Heeler/Pit mix. Believed to be between 3-5 years old All vaccines are up to date. Initially found dumped on the side of a road in the Central Valley

Tuscan is currently being fostered in Novato, CA through The Kern Project; she has been in her current foster home since September 18, 2016.

Tuscan is absolutely the sweetest most loving creature, and wants nothing more than to go for walks, play and love her human forever. Tuscan is afraid of cats and avoids them like the plague.

Tuscan’s dog-dog manners need some work as she becomes very excited when she first meets new friends. She walks well on a leash with moderate pulling that is alleviated with a harness vs. a collar lead. When I take my girls to the park to play and chase a ball, I keep Tuscan on a long lead so that she can run and play but I also have control of her distance. Tuscan’s recall needs some work, but she responds to a special beeper and carrots for treats. Tuscan knows basic commands.

Tuscan would do best as the only dog in the house. Tuscan becomes attached to her human quickly and can become possessive of “her person” when it comes to other dogs. Tuscan is a high-energy girl that will need exercise and activities to keep her mind and body occupied. Tuscan is gentle and seems to enjoy small children. She welcomes strangers into the house and will quickly jump into laps for cuddles and love.

Tuscan is currently fed alone. The only warnings regarding food that have been observed are at mealtime with my dogs (3). Tuscan likes to put her nose in their dishes while they eat and that can cause conflict. However, I am able to put my hand in Tuscan’s bowl while she eats and take away the bowl without any reaction at all. In addition I am able to take away toys and bones without any reaction from her.

Tuscan has crate anxiety. I do not crate Tuscan during the day and I am able to leave her with my dogs when I go to work (2:30-6pm) with indoor/outdoor access. Tuscan is crated to sleep and the crate is in my room, she does fine at bedtime in the crate. Tuscan is crated at bedtime because she does not like to share her people. She enjoys cuddles and we allow her to do this but when it’s time for bed she is crated because of her possessiveness. If Tuscan was the only dog in the house it is my strong opinion she would not need to be crated at all.

Tuscan needs an experienced family that will help set limits for her and will give her tons of love and encouragement.

Courtesy Posting: "Happy and Cute Pit Bull Available

We have an adorable, white pit bull available for adoption. Jess is about 2 years old, and has the energy and outlook of a puppy, one ear perpetually up, the other quizzically cocked sideways. She is lovable, fun, affectionate, house trained, and has started obedience training. She is great with people, something of a licker, definitely a cuddler. She is working on her leash skills. Right now is a bit of a puller, but she's super smart and will surely get it with a bit more training. She loves playing with balls, having her belly rubbed, and nuzzling. Jess would not be good in a home with cats and because she's a pit bull and quite strong; she might be too much for very small children or aging dogs, like our own. Like all pit bulls, Jess always wants to be up on the couch with you.

We are looking for someone to adopt Jess who will spend time with her, complete her training, and give her the full life she deserves. We want to make sure this special girl gets a special home. We will want to set up a meeting, visit your house, and make sure everyone is a good fit.

Please call (510) 530-5618 if you're interested, or email DerrikW@Comcast.net."
