Oscar is a dog that was apparently hit by a car in October, and sat at the shelter untreated for more than a month. We are getting him into our vets to see what is the damage to his leg... after all this time it is likely to need to be amputated, we'll see!

He's a cute smaller medium sized fellow, lots of spots and dots.... more soon after his trip to the vet!

As suspected, Oscar has badly broken bones, that have healed improperly. The injury could have been older than just before coming to the shelter....

We have learned that Oscar is neutered, and dog friendly... and we think okay with cats too... he’ll need the leg amputated, as soon as he’s good and healthy, though he is used to holding it up, he gets around fine that way, but has some discomfort - without the leg, that will be gone.

Merry Pitmas ! All of our pitties ( minus pups ) are free to good homes for the month of December !

FOSTER UPDATE: Froggy is a great dog that is quickly learning how to socialize well with other dogs and people. She is fully housebroke, well crate trained, and will walk on leash well unless she is scared or you let her sniff the grass. She is excellent with my cat and has very little to no prey drive, squirrels, cats, etc. outside don't interest her much, she just looks but doesn't respond in any other way.

She knows how to go in her crate on command, wait at open doors and is learning better leash training and basic obedience. She is low energy but greatly benefits from going on long walks, currently she goes on 3 mile runs, but definitely doesn't need them, and 1 to 2 mile walks in the evenings. She isn't high energy and would be happy to sit on the couch and cuddle all day but is also happy to go for walks and explore. She recently went to the beach for the first time and after being a little unsure of her surroundings for the first 15 min. She relaxed and LOVED it, she dug holes, played in the sand, rolled around, her tail was constantly wagging, she didn't want to leave, and she played and met with a number of dogs and saw horses which she didn't even blink an eye at them. **You can see pictures of her playing on the beach under More Photos**

She took a few days to be relaxed around my dog, but once she did, she looks to him for support outside or in when she's nervous or scared, and when she gets a chance she tries to play with him even when she's in her crate and he's outside. She needs time to live with new dogs as she can get snippy and scared growly or raise a lip but she can correct easily as long as you are consistent with correction, she's not super submissive all dogs. On leash she is excellent at meeting dogs, she is more insecure off leash in the home with new dogs off leash. She has not been grumpy or complained at all with my dog after living with him for 5 days. She is nervous and scared around men, although if they spend time with her on the couch or in a controlled environment she will warm up quickly and bond to them quite well as she did with one of my male friends.

Every day Froggy is getting better and better about cars, men, loud noises. She now doesn't flinch when cars drive by, she's still nervous around trucks but won't stop or pull, just moves over to me or my dog. I think in a few weeks in a home environment with basic obedience, recall training, new experiences and a well-developed routine, she will transform into the easiest, lovable, secure dog ever. She has NO anxiety about being left alone, in the crate and has NO mouthiness, doesn't jump up. She has only barked a few times which I quickly corrected. Otherwise, she's quite calm and quiet inside and outside.

Froggy came from the Chico area - we pulled her and four others to make room for fire victims. She couldn't be sweeter with people - though has a bit of difference towards some men.

$450 adoption fee.

   Breed: Domestic Long Hair
   Color:  Black and White
   Gender: Male
Age: 1 yr. 1 mo.  Birthday: 11/2017 (est)
   Milo ID: 28344
   Current Location: Foster Care
*Foster Notes* "Poppy (aka Reginald) has been an absolute joy in our home! He is so incredibly affectionate and loves to snuggle. He is very curious and playful as well and loves his "cat tunnel" and a yarn ball toy that I made him. I have also trimmed his nails without too much wiggling. He acclimated so quickly to our household and we think he would do well in a home with lots of love and people/animals."

Poppy was surrendered to Milo after his family lost their home in the Camp Fires. He came to Milo with the 3 cats and 1 dog he lived with.

*Foster Notes* "Chris Cross is affectionate, loves to be petted and likes to pose for me. He migrates between two elevated cat beds that give him a good view of his surroundings. I’m not sure how well he would do going to a home with other cats. He can tolerate the kittens but just barely. Perhaps it wouldn’t be an issue if he had a larger territory in a house to patrol instead of being locked up in a bedroom/sunroom with two kittens as he is here. He has never lashed out at the kittens while we have been in the room and we’ve not heard any cat fights."

   Name: ANGEL

   Breed: Chihuahua Mix
   Gender: Female
   Age: 13 yrs. 1 mo.  Birthday: 11/2005
Weight: Small (less than 30 pounds)
   Milo ID: 28336
   Current Location: Foster Care
Angel was surrendered after her people lost their home in Camp Fires. She came in with the 4 cats she lived with.

Angel is a very easy going, quiet Chihuahua, she fine with other dogs, and most all people once she knows them, she just needs to be given a bit of time to observe, sit next to.... She sleeps on the bed, is house trained, eats well once she isn't nervous in the new environment - looks up at you with her big round eyes... just a lovely girl - who's world turned upside down... and burned.

She is nervous around new people and can get a bit snappy if someone she doesn't know goes to pick her up - but it is short lived, she is really a very docile and charming companion, good on walks and in the car, with cats and other dogs, respectful kids too.

   Name: TITAN

Breed: Rottweiler - Doberman Pinscher Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 4 yrs. 8 mo.  Birthday: 4/2014 (est)
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
Referral placement - adoption assisted by Milo.

   Milo ID: 28333
   Current Location: Foster Care
Titan is a very handsome Doberman/Rottweiler and is looking for a new home. He would love a place with room to roam and massive amounts of exercise.

He LOVES to chase sticks and rubber toys. We had him for 3 years on 20 acres of forest, where he was an excellent watchdog. Now that we live and work in town, we find he can't be left outdoors. Our yard is too small and he escapes within minutes to roam the neighborhood, scaring the postal worker.

Titan is not to be trusted around children. He dislikes affection and does not like people to bring their face near his. He is fine around cats, chickens and other pets.

His best talent is leaping and catching things in mid-air - he's quite gorgeous to watch and will play for hours. He also loves to swim, especially if it involves fetching.
