   Name: KIKI
More Photos
Breed: Wirehaired Terrier - Sheep Dog Mix
   Gender: Female
Age: 5 yrs. 2 mo.  Birthday: 3/2013 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 27240
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Pretty soft wire-haired terrier, who has a happy, easy going temperament - she is great with other dogs - but Kiki becomes possessive and protective of her people.

Kiki came from the country of Jordan when she was over 2 years old, she had been in a shelter there until a US diplomat adopted her and brought her here. He could not keep her as he was again stationed out of the country. I suspect she may not have had the easiest early life and may have anxiety from that but I'm not sure.

The humane society had her recently, they put her in an enclosure and she felt threatened there, she did not like it. It was a non starter from the beginning which surprised me since she loves being boarded. We have always taken her to "Its a dogs life" in Petaluma. She is happy there and no complaints from her caregivers either.

Kiki loves and craves being around people. It may not seem like it at first until she feels comfortable. Kiki is very loving and has always been amazing with kids, her prior owners had five, even the youngest from a toddle always hung all over Kiki, pulled her tail, etc and Kiki never cared.

She can lounge around most of the day but needs spurts of activity. She hates swimming and doesn't really have an interest in fetching but would like a toy. She likes getting scratched and petted, and LOVES other dogs and would be best as a second or third dog so she doesn’t feel like she needs to be in charge.

Sudden movements or yelling alarm her and she starts barking. She could use more barking training. She takes on the role of protecting the family, house and large yard, maybe with more dogs she won't feel like she has to be the leader.

She does act hostile toward some strangers, not all. Kiki behaves badly at times towards strangers, seemingly out of fear and does this weird mix of being excited and anxious.

Ultimately Kiki is a lovely dog who would thrive with a new family that perhaps has a more predictable social calendar and is less of a social epicenter. Because she would not show well or be happy at our Adoption Center, Kiki will remain at our Sanctuary until either someone travels there to adopt, or we have a few good applicants and feel like bringing her down to MPR would indeed land her in a home quickly.

$450 adoption fee.

Momma Emma arrived with her eight pups born on 4/13. She will be available after her pups are weaned, now we are hoping to get her and her babes (four boys, four girls) fostered. Available for adoption by foster family or after she can get spayed, mid-June. Lovely dog, she is dog friendly, walks on leash, rides okay in a car and is being a good mom to her pups!

Bindi and Maci are very attached and super sweet, they are going to go to our Sanctuary and find a home most likely in Mendocino, Sonoma or Marin Counties. Can't be placed in Contra Costa and do need a well fenced yard! Sweet dogs, great with people, bad with cats. Maci more bubbly and outgoing, she's the little boss, Bindi is sensitive and trying to find her place.

Beautiful small Malinois girl, who we rescued from Martinez through the prior owner's request because she couldn't keep them due to cat aggression issues. Bindi and Maci are very attached and super sweet, they are going to go to our Sanctuary and find a home most likely in Mendocino, Sonoma or Marin Counties. Can't be placed in Contra Costa and do need a well fenced yard! Sweet dogs, great with people, NOT good with cats.    Name: BO BO

   Breed: Bullmastiff Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 1 yr. 4 mo.  Birthday: 1/2017 (est)
   Weight: Extra-Large (over 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 27120
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Bo Bo is a big young happy guy. He likes other dogs and people too. He still exhibits youthful behaviors and so will need the training and socialization from someone willing to put the time into making him a great family member. He likes to play ball, though may not bring it back, and really enjoys playtime with canine companions. We will know more soon about this affectionate boy.

Bo Bo wants to be with people, dogs too, but people first. He shows no real signs of aggression though can be wary of strange men when he is enclosed in a crate or kennel - perhaps - we'll see, as he is coming down from the Sanctuary to Milo Point Richmond. He came to us from Oakland Animal Services, with a lot of praise for him as a sweetheart and he has certainly made an impression on the staff and volunteers at our Sanctuary!

Moe soon on this handsome hunk of LOVE!

$500 adoption fee.

   Name: KIKIN

   Breed: Australian Cattle Dog
   Gender: Male
Age: 2 yrs.  Birthday: 4/2016 (est)
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   This dog has special needs.
   Milo ID: 27087
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
*Owner Surrender Notes* 4/2/18 "Kikin is two years old cattle dog he is friendly with people but he needs training around other dogs. Kikin was born on April 27, 2016. He was one out of eleven. He was born in El Sobrante and his mother name is Chica, we do not have information about his dad.

At home, he lives with his brother they are the same age, but recently they are getting into fights to the point where we have to keep them separated from each other. We never believed that having two siblings it was to be that challenging.

Kikin likes to go for walk and run near the ocean he is not afraid of the water. One very important thing about Kikin is that he is deaf. Even though he is deaf he has some signal commands that he follows very well, such as, sit, and hi.

I think that he can be an indoor dog, but he needs to be trained. We cannot have an indoor dog because some of us have asthma.

Overall Kikin is a great dog that needs a family that can spend more time with him, a family that can help him to be that dog we know that he can be, but due to our schedule cannot help him right now."
