Lua is a very active cattle dog. She loves to run at the dog park. Is crate trained and can be protective of her crate. Is looking for a home that is experienced with this breed. Would do best as the only dog in home. She can be alpha with other dogs - not all ....

*Return Notes* 3/9/17 "She is house trained, can site, stay, and come, on command."

*Return Notes* 3/1/17 "Sweet and loving dog but very dominant with our other dog inside the home. She was fine in the yard but doesn't like to share her favorite person. Is house trained and would check in with me at night when sleeping on the dog bed."

Notes: "Andy is a young energetic kitty who is just figuring out life. He is bursting with energy and loves to play. He would do well in a home with cat savvy people who have time to spend playing, building trust, and setting boundaries. He is inquisitive and very entertaining, but he’s still learning when not to bite and scratch. If you’ve got time to invest in this cutie pie, you’ll have a playmate for life."

   Gender: Male
Age: 5 yrs. 9 mo.  Birthday: 1/2012 (est)

   Milo ID: 23988

Please read Darwin's full bio before applying: Update 5/27/17: Darwin is a total sweetheart with the sanctuary staff, but sadly he just had trouble letting his guard down in a potential new home and stayed feeling nervous and feeling like he needed to protect himself against them when touched in a way he deemed as scary. They are lovely folks, but given that it was getting worse instead of better, he is now back at the sanctuary decompressing and settling back in.

Original Bio: Darwin is VERY loving, loyal, gentle and extremely responsive to family, friends and those that he has been introduced to. He is perfectly house trained, has great house manners and puts himself to bed in his crate in the bedroom (with the door open) He is a treat motivated, intelligent cuddly and playful boy, but please do read further to see if your home could fit his specific needs.

Darwin was originally adopted from Milo in 2012 to a family that loves him very much and have been working with him to help him past his nervous fear based/protective issues while living in an urban environment in the bay area.. He is a boy that would do best in a rural home as he is not fond of skateboards or children, and can be reactive towards strangers and other dogs while on a walk. He was wonderful with his family and with people he could be introduced to, but his family had to be diligent when walking him to help him feel safe and secure and feel like he did not have to protect himself or them if someone they encountered did something that he felt was scary. He would sometimes get overwhelmed in the city and just lie down on a walk out of fear. They did love him very much and would have continued to make it work but given that they are now expecting a child and his discomfort with children, they had to make the difficult decision to have him come to stay with us at the sanctuary until a new rural home can be found for him

Darwin has not lived with other dogs, but has been able to visit them in their homes and get along well. HAS been territorial when they have tried to visit his however, so may be best as an only pet. He has loved to play with many dogs, but has also instigated a few altercations with other large dogs at the dog park. He does seem to love small assertive dogs such as Jack Russels and in general he seems to do best with alpha dogs as he gets conflicted about his role otherwise and that is when he might get into trouble. He can not actually fight and would prefer to just take his place as the submissive guy. His issues with other large dogs has mostly seemed to be around his family from a misguided sense of trying to protect them. He has been great in playgroups with other dogs while his family was on vacation, but aside from playdates with friends dogs, it may be best for him to be the only pet living in the home.

Darwin is an intelligent, bonding and charming boy who would thrive in an adult only country home with lots of love. He knows many words, and will even play dead, turn in a circle, and stand up from a shake when asked. Darwin does have a prey drive and would do best in a home without cats or horses.

If you feel that you have the right rural home for this sweet, loving boy who is a country bumpkin at heart, please send questionnaires to sanctuary@milofoundation.org to schedule an appointment to meet him.

Breed: Labrador Retriever - Australian Cattle Dog Mix
   Gender: Female
Age: 3 yrs. 7 mo.  Birthday: 3/2014 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 23226
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Pearl is a sweet, sensitive girl, she is looking to bond with someone special. *Owner Surrender Notes* 4/14/16 "Pearl is a perhaps a sight hound mix, as opposed to a Lab - she is lean and lanky, elegant with a hounds barrel chest. She is sensitive and elegant - and fast! She can sit, shake, and lay down. She loves to chew on her bone and play with her Kong. She can be a bit nippy and territorial. She interacts and plays with our small dog just fine. Pearl is crate trained and we use this method when we leave the house. She eats a grain free diet - typically Turkey and sweet potato. She hasn't done well with chicken in the past, seems to upset her stomach. Pearl definitely needs to be placed with someone who has a lot of property because she is high energy. Our family hopes she will find a good home.

Potty trained. Territorial around my kids friends. Needs a loving home with lots of room to run and play."
