   Name: GWEN

   Breed: Great Pyrenees Mix
   Gender: Female
Age: 10 yrs. 1 mo.  Birthday: 3/2007 (est)
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 25017
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Gwen is a big fluffy senior lady with impeccable house manners. She can be shy with some people, but with others she is a sweet and cuddly girl who loves to walk by your side and bury her head into you for love.

We do not know why, but this senior girl was dropped off at an over crowded shelter in Kern co with a badly infected uterus, seemingly having had many litters in her life. It is possible that her family did not have the money for her care, and rather than seek out help, decided that surrendering her to a shelter in an area with a very high kill rate was the easiest/best way to go. In any event, Gwen does seem like a girl who was committed to her person, even if they were not to her which is sadly too often the case. She was clearly not raised as an outdoor only girl, and the way that she will immediately take to some people makes it seem as though they remind her of someone she loved and fully trusted.

Luckily Gwen had a guardian angel at the shelter (aptly named Angela!) She knew that being a discarded senior who needed to be on antibiotics after her surgery would ultimately be a death sentence at the overcrowded shelter, especially given that she was too sad/confused to eat without being hand fed. She arranged to keep Gwen at the vets rather than returning to the shelter to try to buy her some time while she reached out to rescues for help.

When we heard her story, we agreed to help and arranged to have her transported to safety at the sanctuary. Once she arrived it was discovered that Gwen had caught bacterial pneumonia on top of everything else she was going through. With medication, hand feeding, patience and a bit of time..We are happy to report that Gwen is now ready to meet her forever family! (in the interim we would LOVE a foster for Gwen!)

Due to the fact that Gwen can still be weary with some people and can get fearful if forced to interact, we would like a family for her without young children that could not understand that sometimes an older refined lady just wants to lay on a bed by the fire rather than get a bear hug! Gwen can also have a bit of an alpha side with some dogs, and other times is indifferent or neutral, so if there is another dog in the home it would be best for them to be a larger, older and mellow dog and not necessarily looking for her to cuddle/play etc.

Gwen would be a great fit for a loving and calm home that is looking for a beautiful older sidekick to spend time in the garden with, or just chill out in the house and give each other love. Please email interest in fostering/adopting Gwen to sanctuary@milofoundation.org!

   Name: SPARKY

Breed: Great Pyrenees - Australian Shepherd Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 2 yrs. 2 mo.  Birthday: 2/2015 (est)
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 24906
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Sparky is very temporarily at the Sanctuary to have some time to run around because he was becoming stressed in a kennel at the adoption center. Please email interest in Sparky to the sanctuary in Willits and we will let you know when you can either meet him here, or what day he will be heading back down to MPR!

Sparky was an owner surrender to the Wasco Shelter. He is very sweet and friendly, needs basic obedience, and would love a family to call his own! Sparky is active, affectionate, cuddly and adorable - we'll know more soon to expand his bio - but better yet - come meet this handsome fellow at Milo Point Richmond soon! He is geared up and ready for an active, loving family!

$450 adoption fee.

   Name: HERSHEL
More Photos
Breed: Miniature Schnauzer - American Staffordshire Terrier Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 1 yr. 5 mo.  Birthday: 12/2015 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 24603
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
*Return Notes* 1/9/17 "My husband and I do think Hershel would do great in a home with a single, strong, experienced dog owner. He went to MetroDog where he could play with other dogs, and when he is not there he gets 1-2 hours of good exercise every day (long walks, fetch, and dog parks where only large dogs go due to his aggression with small dogs). He eats a healthy diet of grain-free kibble and home-made stews. He has been through training.

Note that when Hershel is calm he is an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog, but he can switch in an instant to a state of fearfulness. He should not be in any home where there are children or small animals (or frequent visitors).

We also did a Wisdom Panel DNA test and Hershel's results stated that he is American Staffordshire Terrier, Miniature Schnauzer, and Mixed herding (most likely matches were German Shepard and Border Collie)."

   Name: HARVEY

Breed: Australian Shepherd - Bernese Mountain Dog Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 5 yrs. 8 mo.  Birthday: 9/2011 (est)
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 24592
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Handsome big fellow, strong yet sweet-natured. He came into the Monterey shelter with hair loss on his rear from flea infestation. A nice dog that has had some neglect. He is a sweet guy and loves attention, has some separation anxiety and will bark in the car. Harvey would be best in a home with no children. He needs work on learning to share his food with people and with house training.

   Gender: Male
Age: 1 yr. 5 mo.  Birthday: 12/2015 (est)
Weight: Small (less than 30 pounds)
   Milo ID: 24388
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Won-ton is a timid lil boy. In need of a super LOVING home!

   Name: OLLIE

Breed: Jack Russell Terrier - Beagle Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 6 yrs. 6 mo.  Birthday: 10/2010 (est)
Weight: Small (less than 30 pounds)
   Milo ID: 24323
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
When Ollie knows and trusts you, he is a wiggling, cuddly and ball playing little munchkin, but it takes a bit of time to get past his "stranger danger" response to get to know that side of him. Because he does have the potential to bite if he feels cornered or forced to interact with someone, it would be best for Ollie to find a low key and rural home where he would not need to visit coffee shops/dog parks etc and could just be your happy and sweet little buddy. We will add more about this cutie soon! Please send interest in ollie to sanctuary@milofoundation.org
