Volunteer for Milo

In the Bay Area:

Foster A Dog, Puppies, Cat or Kittens

Volunteer for Milo! Many rescue dogs and cats simply need more one-on-one people time and a sense of routine.  Foster homes literally save lives, creating more space at our Adoption Center to rescue more pets facing euthanasia. Dog savvy people with fenced yards, and the time to devote to an additional pet, would be helping a long-term Milo dog by fostering for a month or so, and getting the dog primed for "real life" -- a home and a family! Taking a fostered dog to Mobile Adoption events is very helpful.  Foster homes are also needed for shorter time frames for cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies.  We also rescue a LOT of mom dogs with puppies and in the Spring and Summer months many mom cats with their litters - fostering a family is super helpful in saving many lives!

Help At Milo Point Richmond

Milo Point Richmond opened on 12/8/2013. This is our new "forever" location in a great new 5000 sf space. We have dog yards, our own Dog Park and the small town that is Point Richmond a short walk away.  We need volunteers to help greet people and assist with adoptions, help with many animal care tasks, dog walking, assist in the office and answering phones, and other administrative tasks. Let us know how you can help, call 510-900-2275, or better yet stop in or attend a Volunteer Orientation on the second and last Thursdays of the month at 5pm.

Mobile Adoptions and Outreach

Milo is looking for pairs of volunteers to go out to busy retail locations and set up a table and hand out information - taking a couple puppies a dog... some critters to attract attention.... call Milo Point Richmond and ask for Lynne, or email lat@milofoundation.org if you would like to help raise funds and spread the word about Milo and our bustling Adoption Center, Milo Point Richmond (MPR)!

Every weekend there are mobile adoption events, mostly at various locations in Marin, sometimes in the East Bay.  We always need volunteers to help with set up, taking care of the critters during the events, and breaking down at the end of the day.  Mobiles are held at Corte Madera Town Center, Terrapin Crossroads and various Petfood Express Locations around the Bay Area. We also attend many Pet Fairs in the Summer months.

At the Sanctuary:

We have regular volunteer weekends and other events at our Sanctuary!

Please be ready to roll up your sleeves and pitch in. You will likely get hot, you will most likely get dirty, and you will get lots of dog kisses and cat purrs! We have projects galore to benefit the dogs, the horses and all the critters! There will also be time to socialize with the animals, walk dogs, brush horses and donkeys, and play with kitties.

We have building projects galore! We would love help by any handy persons. Trades people are encouraged!  We have a volunteer cabin getting completed, come stay and help! There are lots of things to help with and fun to be had!

The Sanctuary is located about 3 hours north of the Bay Area, east of Willits. The spring and fall are beautiful times of the year to visit - and help!  Summers are typically hot, and there are vital projects that occur in these months! Please email sanctuary@milofoundation.org for more information.
