ZELDA!

Zelda is a Chihuahua / Terrier mix with a soft smooth reddish brown coat. She is initially shy and a little anxious but warms up with time. She came in to Milo with her buddy Zoe.

She’s very trainable because she’s smart and figures things out quickly. She walks well on leash and will be attentive to your directions, especially if treats are involved! She does not soil her kennel which may indicate she’s had some potty training.

Zelda is a smaller but athletic dog with medium to high energy and would do well with another dog in the home – maybe her buddy Zoe? She needs an active person or family who like to walk/hike and play games. She’d be a good candidate for Agility Training!

   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 30161

Meet Boomer!

Boomer's sweet and good with other dogs. He is a typical Husky who will need to go to an active home that will provide him with the stimulation he needs, and he can use some leash training. Best home setting for Boomer will be one with another playful dog--since these guys do better in a pack--a well fenced yard, perhaps teenage kids and of course fencing that is at least 6ft high.

Milo Foundation's Adoption Contract offers a 10-day built in fostering period on adult animals (over ten months age) where adopters can spend time getting to know their newly adopted pet and determine how it feels to share their home with this new dog or cat. During this 10-day period, adopters are welcome to take their new animal to be evaluated by professionals in the field or seen by their veterinarian. If you determine it is not a good fit and we cannot help you make it work; the animal can be returned for a refund minus a $50 admin fee. Boomer comes with a 20 day get acquainted period with his adoption, time to adjust to his new surroundings. Please give time and patience to new adoptees, particularly dogs from the Milo Sanctuary.

   Breed: Siberian Husky

   Milo ID: 29980
   Current Location: Milo Point Richmond
1/23/20- Foster Notes:
We currently have had Mimi and judo for about 3 weeks and so far they have been wonderful. We were a little hesitant about fostering two dogs that were big but having them around seems easier than when we foster one dog. These two are the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet. All they want to do is cuddle and just want to be shown love and affection. Both dogs are extremely intelligent and know how to sit. Mimi knows how to lay down and shake as well. We have a cat as well and they are interested in them but also scared. We would recommend though that whomever adopts Mimi and Judo have a backyard even if not massive. Just something for them to trot around and play in.

No other dogs in the home.

MIMI and JUDO would love to continue to live together - somewhere with Husky savvy, loving folks with the time and the fencing to keep them safe and contained, loved and exercised. A happy, social, and affectionate husky pair of rascals! They are both friendly, laid-back and affectionate. They're great even in chaotic situations with lots of people around-- they maintain their calm and look to you for guidance. They jump up occasionally but are very responsive to correction. They are adorable and ready for a home! Adoption fee $800 for the pair.

One note of caution is that they resource guard with other dogs. Mostly they resource guard food, sometimes they get jealous about affection. They haven't broken skin but Theo definitely got roughed up. They haven't showed any food aggression towards humans.

Keys! A most handsome boy looking for his forever home. A very nice medium (~50 pounds) size - hardy, athletic, agile and grounded boy.

No other dogs in the home.

Foster Feedback: “Keys played well with my small dog and learned Sit, Shake, Down and Stay. He’s a snuggler and a lover, a tad willful but young and eager to please his people. He’s very treat motivated and will do well with consistent training. He does have a strong prey drive, so no cats or small animals. Keys is dog selective. He can benefit from consistent socialization with other people and animals outside of the immediate family as he does become protective of his family once he is bonded.”

Keys would love to have a home with active people, with kids and maybe another small dog to play with!

Chuwie and Loki are 2 bundles of love, brothers & best pals, almost 14 years of age, who have lived together their whole lives. They recently lost everything, home & family, and are now at Milo Pt. Richmond waiting to love and live again.

These handsome cats have big hearts and are affectionate teddy bears. Chuwie is more active and meows to say 'hi.' Loki prefers hanging out in a soft bed and snuggling. They're delightful senior cats who need a comfortable home to embrace their golden years together. Both are doing their very best to keep their 'chins up' during this stressful time. Come meet Chuwie & Loki! $100 for the pair!

Breed: Shepherd - Labrador Retriever Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 11 mos.  Birthday: 4/2019 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29754
   Current Location: Milo Point Richmond
Bex is a gorgeous, agile and strong dog, but thinks he is a lap dog. He is a total love who wants to snuggle. He will be your shadow and follow you around. Bex has A LOT of love to give.

Bex has gone through some training and is 95% potty trained with a cue ‘lets go pee’. When he can’t make it outside he will use a puppy pad in the home. He is leash trained, will wait for food upon command, sit, lay down and just started to shake with his paw. He loves chew bones and treats. He is VERY food motivated, and thus responds well to training. He is very good with his pack both adults and children. He doesn’t know how strong he is and can topple young kids in excitement so older children are a better fit.

However Bex is a special dog. He went through a significant fear imprint when he was 4-5 months old and was scared of everything. He was scared to go for walks, sounds of vehicles and even fire hydrants. He was especially scared of bigger dogs that looked like him. After training and with fear subsiding, he has gotten a lot better. Bex will do very well in a household with no other dogs and a fenced in yard. He needs to run! A household with young children is not recommended.

Bex comes with a 20 day get acquainted period with his adoption, time to adjust to his new surroundings. Please give time and patience to new adoptees, particularly dogs from the Milo Sanctuary.

   Name: OTTO
OTTO

Breed: Anatolian Shepherd - Great Pyrenees Mix
   Gender: Male
   Age: 3 yrs. 4 mo.  Birthday: 12/2016
   Weight: Extra-Large (over 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29596
   Current Location: Milo Point Richmond
A wonderful Milo adopter has generously donated half of Otto's adoption fee! His fee is now $250.

Otto is a big beauty of a boy. He is the classic big guardian breed, willing and compliant, stoic, serious and will guard you. He will greet you with tail wagging in his quietly jolly way. Guardian dogs are nocturnal, and tend to stay up at night and bark. It's their job to guard the sheep while the shepherd is sleeping.

No other small dogs in the home. We can dog test w/ your large dog if you bring them with you.

Otto is very sweet and mellow. He loves pets and attention. He is also intelligent and trainable, he knows a few commands like sit, down, back up and even knows to "speak". He is still working on his leash manners. He lived with 2 cats and had no issues, but he will chase squirrels any chance he gets! Otto sometimes will show leash aggression which only occurs during walks and with only some dogs. He will also bond with his person and this will bring out his guardian background. These behaviors can be corrected but he will need a dog savvy and committed person to reinforce this behavior. The nocturnal and guarding nature are typical of the breed and should be expected.

Otto needs a quiet home and would prefer to live with just one person, no children and no other dog or a dog his size. No small dogs. Otto needs a good size piece of land to roam and guard, with few cars going by. He's nocturnal (stays awake at night) and will bark. **His new person must be guardian dog savvy and have the time/patience it takes to continue his training.**

A wonderful Milo adopter has generously donated half of Otto's adoption fee! His fee is now $250.

   Name: FRANKLIN
FRANKLIN

   Breed: Shepherd - Coonhound Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 1 yr. 4 mo.  Birthday: 11/2018 (est)
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29575
   Current Location: Milo Point Richmond
Franklin is a fantastic, fun-loving, super friendly dog who loves people and attention more than treats. He plays with toys and his friends both two and four-legged with joy and relative gentleness. He is hard to place breed-wise as he has a docked tail, his brother had more of a black and tan classic marking pattern, and broader head looking maybe Rottie, but Franklin doesn't look that way....

He still will need some training but he is really eager to please, he just needs to know what's expected. No apartments or small spaces for this boy. He loves to play and run outside, so an active adopter or family who takes their dog on hikes and trips to the beach - he is a real people and dog pleasing kind of guy you can trust in most all situations - perhaps a tad of a bull in the china shop - but really he is maturing beautifully and is so ready to be a great companion!

Franklin is a little fearful of young children, so he can go to a home with children only if they are over the age of 16. He needs a big yard and another active dog to play with, and people who do not work long hours. He is a gem that just needs a bit of refining.

$450 adoption fee.

   Name: KONA
KONA
More Photos
Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog - Terrier Mix
   Gender: Female
Age: 1 yr. 2 mo.  Birthday: 1/2019 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29323
   Current Location: Milo Point Richmond
HERE'S KONA!

Kona is a sweet young girl who is looking for dog savvy owners who can provide her with further training and socialization. Due to lack of training in her early puppy months, Kona will need someone who will be patient with her and lead her in the right direction. Kona needs owners who will be very direct with her as she is learning the do's and dont's. She has a nippy behavior which can be unpredictable, so she will need owners who will work with her to end that behavior. Kona is crate trained when let out at appropriate times but still working on being fully house trained.

Kona loves attention whether that be getting belly rubs, taking naps with her foster family or going for walks at Pt Isabel dog park! At the dog park Kona pretty much stays by your side, has great recall and will come when called; because she gets excited when she sees other dogs her approach can be a little forward so using treats and continued work on her recall is important.

An ideal household for Kona would be one as the only animal, as she does have some resource guarding over high value food with both dogs and people. She does not mean to snap but if you do walk by her or try to take food from here, she will let you know that she does not like that. An adult only home would be suggested for Kona, as she has some behavior traits that won't do well with kids. She would love a home that is active and can provide lots of metal stimulation. A home that has land, may do well for her as she loves to run around and play with her toys.

When taking Kona home, we do not suggest that you let her sleep on any furniture and she can get protective of it. As said before, she is crate trained and would be okay sleeping in there throughout the night. As much as Kona loves to cuddle and be pet, it is important to think of her needs and the right training for her. She is a very sweet dog, but needs owners who can really support her and work with her.

   Color:  Brown Tabby
   Gender: Male
Age: 1 yr. 8 mo.  Birthday: 7/2018 (est)
   Milo ID: 29036
   Current Location: Milo Point Richmond
Kingston is a handsome kitty looking for his forever home.

Kingston is still an adolescent and thus is still pretty active in his play style like a kitten. He has the urge to wander and explore the neighborhood which can get him into trouble since he likes to make himself at home with anyone who has an open door. So he must go to a home as the only animal who has a yard with a very high fence he can’t jump over. Or to someone who’s willing to build him a Catio. Catio’s are easy to construct and relatively inexpensive to put together. Because he’s still young he’ll need lots of attention, play time and mental stimulation. $200 adoption fee.
