   Name: RALPH
RALPH
More Photos
   Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
   Gender: Male
   Age: 2 yrs.  Birthday: 1/2018
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 30217
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Ralph is a silly, goofy, handsome and fun fellow who came to Milo from Oakland Animal Services. While at Oakland he went into foster care and did very well with his canine foster sister, as well as his foster mom and his foster dad. It takes Ralph a little while to warm up to people, but when he does, he is yours forever!

Ralph does very well with other big dogs (and is open to small dogs too) and loves to play. With people, he can be wary of strangers and needs slow introductions, but when he has a little confidence and trust in you, he really becomes a friend. He is currently at the Milo Sanctuary, where he is enjoying running around and getting plenty of exercise, and he is making canine and human friends. He immediately fell for Sanctuary Manager Annie (and her two female pitties), and has become best buds with staff member Michael, a big fellow who matches Ralph in his brawn and friendliness.

Ralph would do best in a home with another confident dog, but the right home without a canine companion could work out as well. In either case he would benefit from confidence-building training.

Ralph really just wants to be loved - and as his foster mom said about him, she didn't think any dog loved her as much as Ralph, and she's had a few dogs in her time!

   Milo ID: 29923

Colby is an amazing fellow. Immediately fitting in at our Sanctuary as a friend, guardian, companion to dog and people - curious onlooker to others - but people focused first - easy going, not house trained - happy outdoors but needing comforts. He's actually quite amazing - a fabulous companion to avid hikers and outdoorsy folks -he'd carry his own pack and walk beside you... attentive and relaxed fellow. Charming x100!

$500 adoption fee for sweet big boy Colby, and we're leaving him at our Sanctuary where he is happy and easy as pie! Interested parties please send in your applications to info@ and sanctuary@milofoundation.org - but due to fires and outages it will take a bit for any process for him - but he's giving comfort to Sanctuary folks right now.

Breed: Australian Shepherd - Australian Kelpie Mix
   Gender: Female
Age: 2 yrs. 3 mo.  Birthday: 10/2017 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29896
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
An awesome girl!

Chocolate brown, bi-color, delightful, sweet and clever girl who smiles and loves to give hugs. Parsnip loves adults, kids, teens, strangers outside the home, cats and other dogs. She is lively, attentive, playful and responsive. Parsnip is friendly when out and about but can be protective of her home with people she doesn't know. She is not housebroken and will need further training and socialization. Parsnip would love to be in a home with another dog due to her bad separation anxiety. Although she isn't a puppy, her personality is like one. Here are some notes form Parsnips previous adopter: "Parsnip is not comfortable with young children- is anxious with noise and sudden movements". We recommend a home with teens and no young children for this lovely girl!

If you are looking for an Aussie-type, send in an application, or come meet her today!

$500 adoption fee.

Milo offers a ten day built in get acquainted period with adoption of adult dogs (over ten months age) and offer support within this time frame. Like a ten day fostering period, dogs can be returned for a refund less a $50 admin fee.

   Name: DAHLIA
FLOWER CHILDREN PYRS

   Breed: Great Pyrenees
   Gender: Female
   Age: 1 yr.  Birthday: 1/2019
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29870
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Dahlia is a very sweet girl. She is still a pup and needs to learn basic commands like sit, down, stay. When she does get excited she will try and jump on you. She just has to be reminded that all paws must stay on the ground. She is still a youngster and needs to learn basic commands like sit, down, stay, but as Pyrs are stubborn and grow to 120 or more pounds this is not always easy, and for some lifestyles (their chosen lifestyle outdoors), is not always needed. She is very smart, she just wants to please, and be loved, she needs some one to lead her and work with her, she is very happy to watch over other animals and children in a large space. These dogs are good with all animals and children...chickens, cats, sheep, cows...

Great Pyrenees are nocturnal, have large barks, are very stubborn, and enjoy being outdoors! And that is just some of their basic criteria. Milo is very careful where Great Pyrs go to live, they are easy to fall in love with but very hard to live with in urban settings. They are BIG lovely packages of white fluffy love but really have breed specific needs. These fine young dogs will be returning to our Sanctuary post Spay/Neuter on the SNIP BUS at Milo Point Richmond on 10/15. They do not walk on leash well and do not love being in the kennel environment - they came off a ranch in the Napa hills.

$600 adoption fee.

Daffodil is a very sweet girl. She is a bit more shy than her siblings, so she needs a lot more socializing. Even though it takes her a few minutes to finally approach you, when she finally does you'll be glad that you waited around to gain her trust. She is still a pup and needs to learn basic commands like sit, down, stay. She will give you so many kissies and is very smart, she just wants to please, she needs some one to lead her and work with her.

Chewy is a sweet little guy who will love to cuddle up next to you or in your lap as soon as he gets to know you a little, as he can be a little shy with new people and situations.Once acclimated however, his personality begins to truly shine!

Chewy gets along with dogs of all shapes and sizes and carries himself with unyielding chihuahua confidence! We will add more information as we get to know him better.

   Breed: Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 8 yrs. 4 mo.  Birthday: 9/2011 (est)
   Weight: Extra-Large (over 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29831
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Amos is a very sweet laid back fellow. He loves to lay at your feet and will let you know when he wants more pets with a cute little whimper. He loves to pick up scraps off the kitchen floor, and will never say no to a biscuit. Amos would do well in a cat free environment. He has high prey drive and doesn't like anything small that darts around super fast. We seem to believe that poor Amos must have broken his leg in the past and now its a bit bent. Due to this Amos does have Arthritis and is on Rimadyl to help ease the pain. He also has the cutest little mole under his right eye.

Breed: Labrador Retriever - Great Pyrenees Mix
   Gender: Male
   Age: 4 yrs. 7 mo.  Birthday: 5/2015
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29793
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Sam has the best of both his breeds. His former person has this to say about him: Sam is loving and loves to play. He loves walks and playing tug-o-war with rope toys. He loves the beach and squeaky toys. He also likes to chew on things, so try to keep things out of his reach because he is a big dog...chomp-chomp! However, this is more due to boredom, or lack of activity. He is good with most dogs but he would like to be the only dog in the household. Sam will bond with his person and this may bring out the guardian in him so he needs a consistent routine and home setting without alot of strangers coming and going.

Sam needs a dog savvy person with a quiet predictable home setting with very few people. He needs regular exercise and mental stimulation to stave off boredom. A tired dog is a Good dog! A sizable piece of property with lots of space to run around is a must with a dog of his size. No children under the age of 16.

Breed: Siberian Husky - Shepherd Mix
   Gender: Female
Age: 1 yr. 9 mo.  Birthday: 4/2018 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29772
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
A beautiful dog we offered to rescue on her last day at a shelter - then before we could get her to Milo she popped out three puppies! No one knew she was pregnant. So, due to the pups, we got her up to our Sanctuary as it was an emergency kind of thing - but now Shakira is done with her pups and flourishing in foster care with a pack of pals.

Shakira is an instinctual dog with just a bit of a wild edge. She is vocal and howls/talks. Very endearing. She is very bonding to her person, and her pack mates, thus we feel strongly she would do a lot better in a home with another dog. She is fostered with a cat who does not run - and that works, but he is a very dog savvy, 18 pound Mainecoon, with skittish cats that run her prey drive would take hold - even when picking up a small dog her prey instinct ramps up - but she is a loving dog, just interested in everything.

She is a bit of a rascal, and a gymnast, also she has opened a gate, though just ran around with her pals and came back as her foster mom appeared! Naughty, and clever, but good!

Shakira sleeps on the bed, and likes to snuggle like she would with a pack mate more laying draped over you.... of course she gets pushed down on the bed and gets it. She shares affection well with the other dogs, dances and prances... she is a beauty and a sweetheart, but with a little wild and willful spice. Home alone will not be her thing - another dog will make it possible.

$500 adoption fee.

   Name: LUPO
SCOOBY NOW LUPO
More Photos
   Breed: Miniature Pinscher Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 2 yrs. 6 mo.  Birthday: 7/2017 (est)
Weight: Small (less than 30 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29762
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Lupo will make an excellent companion for a single person or an adult couple or family with older kids - and he'll do best as an only dog in the home, though he can be around other dogs out in the world. He is very smart and agile, so he would excel at challenges, such as games and training. He's uncomfortable with the unexpected and can be unpredictable with strangers, so he would do best in a quiet home with no children. Further socialization and training, with clear expectations, concentration and exercise, will help him.

Lupo is pretty mellow inside and he's as eager to spend the day helping in the garden, or doing errands, happy to spend evenings watching MSNBC, Netflix or CSI as much as he is going on long walks around the neighborhood.

If you are interested in Lupo, please come by the Milo Foundation and meet him today!

Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier - German Shepherd Dog Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 8 mos.  Birthday: 4/2019 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29754
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Bex is a gorgeous, agile and strong dog, but thinks he is a lap dog. He is a total love who wants to snuggle. He will be your shadow and follow you around. Bex has A LOT of love to give.

Bex has gone through some training and is 95% potty trained with a cue ‘lets go pee’. When he can’t make it outside he will use a puppy pad in the home. He is leash trained, will wait for food upon command, sit, lay down and just started to shake with his paw. He loves chew bones and treats. He is VERY food motivated, and thus responds well to training. He is very good with his pack both adults and children. He doesn’t know how strong he is and can topple young kids in excitement so older children are a better fit.

However Bex is a special dog. He went through a significant fear imprint when he was 4-5 months old and was scared of everything. He was scared to go for walks, sounds of vehicles and even fire hydrants. He was especially scared of bigger dogs that looked like him. After training and with fear subsiding, he has gotten a lot better. Bex will do very well in a household with no other dogs and a fenced in yard. He needs to run! A household with younger children is not recommended.

   Gender: Male
Age: 1 yr. 2 mo.  Birthday: 11/2018 (est)
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29575
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Franklin is a fantastic, fun dog who loves people and attention more than treats.

He will need training, and a refresher on housebreaking. No apartments or small spaces for this boy. He loves to play and run outside, so an active household is ideal. Franklin is a little fearful of children, so he can go to a home with children only if they are over the age of 16. He needs a big yard and another active dog to play with, and people who do not work long hours. He is a gem in the rough.

O Lady Jane! This beautiful girl is so deserving of a loving home. She is sweet and friendly but very nervous and insecure out in the world. She came in with her mom Ingrid, but her mom was adopted and now it's her turn! She can spook easily although she walks well on leash once she is comfortable with you. Lady Jane will be able to blossom in a calm, patient and kid-free house hold. She would do best in a rural or suburban setting with plenty of room to run around and perhaps a mentor dog. She is very intelligent--she can open doors--and needs training and further socialization. She will be a perfect companion for someone who can be home a lot of the time, and give her the nurturing she needs. Come meet her and fall in love today at Milo Point Richmond.... she needs a special home devoted to helping her get settled in the world!
