   Name: CALY aka CALYPSO
Breed: German Shepherd Dog - Rottweiler Mix
   Gender: Female
   Age: 3 yrs. 6 mo.  Birthday: 11/2016
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 29035
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Adorable, sweet, spunky Calypso (Caly) is a highly intelligent and sensitive2-year-old German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix. She has so much love and affection to give to the people she trusts and bonds with. For Caly, an ideal home would be a single family detached house with a large yard, another dog friend (or friends!) to play with, and a confident, experienced dog owner. Ideally, she would have lots of opportunities for playtime and mental stimulation, as she’s a busy, brilliant girl. She feels most comfortable with adults, and likely wouldn’t do well in a home with children, as she’s shown some uncertainty around them. Caly has her basic obedience down, is housebroken, spayed, fully up-to-date with her vaccinations, and is a trainable, quick learner. She also loves belly rubs and car rides!

Caly does amazingly well with other dogs and quickly makes new canine friends. She feels a great deal of comfort, security, and calm when sharing a home with them, as she’s grown up with adult dogs around to mentor her. She would thrive with another dog or two she could bond with in her new family. Caly also gets along well with kitty friends! She maintains a playful sense of curiosity around cats, and will even engage in gentle play if they approach her wanting to do so. Sometimes, Caly will feel the need to protect her favorite toys and food from other dogs and, rarely, people. She’ll audibly mumble and grumble, but ultimately understands that doing so isn’t necessary.

As Caly has grown older, she’s unfortunately become wary of new people and strangers. She can show some fearful reactivity around strangers on walks or with new people who come into the home. At times, she’ll bark, growl or show ‘air-mouthiness’ to express that she’s uncomfortable and needs more space. It can take time for Caly to build trust. However, if Caly’s got another dog friend by her side when new people come into the home, she actually improves behaviorally. Her canine companion(s) help her to see that new people aren’t as scary as she may think they are.

Once Caly knows and trusts you, she will be attached to you for life. Caly provides a type of love that isunconditional and wholehearted. Her personality is endearingly quirky, and she wants nothing more than to sharethe kindness, warmth, and tenderness she has so much of with you. She deserves a fantastic home, a fantasticperson (or people!), and a fantastic new dog friend to live with that can give her all the love, attention, space, andstructure she deserves.

Jupiter is a very shy girl who chooses dogs over people as friends. She originally came to Milo from the Stanislaus Shelter and was adopted by a lovely woman who did her best with her, but who also lived in the noisy city where Jupiter just could not get comfortable. She's currently residing at our sanctuary for a much needed break from our urban environment, but is still available for adoption.

   Breed: Alaskan Malamute Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 8 yrs. 6 mo.  Birthday: 11/2011 (est)
   Weight: Large (60 - 90 pounds)
   Milo ID: 28906
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Gazpacho sadly has tested postive for Heartworm so will need treatment - he is a fairly mellow charecter so the long stint of cage or room rest wont be so very difficult if he can just hangout, go to work, or just stay at home in a quiet area... Gorgonzola and Gazpacho lived together their whole lives and are both charming. Their person passed away and they ended up at the Clearlake Animal Services and as they are middle aged or senior - little chance did they have, which is crazy because these are lovely dogs, tail wagging, happy, solicitous of affection, silly, adorable and looking for love and playtime!

Once Gazpacho starts his HW treatment he will need to stay calm, keep his heart-rate low.... for a few months. he would love a home - adoptive or foster at least! Super sweet bog boy! No cat household

   Breed: Domestic Medium Hair
   Color:  Grey and white
   Gender: Female
   Age: 1 yr. 7 mo.  Birthday: 11/2018
   Milo ID: 28900
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Samantha has not been around people much so she is a bit shy. She might hiss at first but it is just a soft one and once you start talking to her she feels better. She loves her wet food, so giving that would certainly win her over!

Samantha needs a home that is quiet and better with no young kids. She is a very sweet cat.

Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier - Hound Mix
   Gender: Female
   Age: 1 yr. 11 mo.  Birthday: 6/2018

   Milo ID: 28890
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Happy is just that! HAPPY! She wants to try to please, and anxious to run and play - a physical player with dogs, but dog social with dogs her size, she just needs dogs that can tolerate her in their face, their business and ready to romp and roll with the punches and body slams! Fun girl, who is not all that keen on kids in the home, she is protective and not keen on a lot of visitors.

Happy has come up to the Milo Sanctuary to chill out for a bit, as a kennel environment is too frustrating for her. She is a sweetheart, looking for a home with loving, active adults, a good yard, hiking, playing, and ongoing training and consistency.

Age: 1 yr. 8 mo.  Birthday: 9/2018 (est)

   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Libra is a beautiful Ragdoll mix that came to Milo with her friend Thomasina from a hoarding situation. She is very shy and needs more socialization around people, but she is already opening up to staff here at Milo.

Libra is happiest in a quiet household space where she can take the time she needs to open up and get to know her surroundings. Once she is settled in, Libra has a calm, mellow personality and has enjoyed being pet in her past - but she is timid and less social now as she was not doing well at our Adoption Center.

Lovely Thomasina

Is looking for a special kind of home where she can open up and show her true colors. She is shy and can be quite fearful at first - but when given time she is incredibly sweet. She loves to have her head scratched and will let you pet her but does not like being picked up. Must be kept indoors and may take at least a year of careful attention to adjust to a new home.

This beautiful girl resembles a Ragdoll or Siamese and came in with other similar cats (like her friend Libra) from a hoarder situation. Come visit her at Milo Point Richmond today!

$200 adoption fee.

   Breed: Ragdoll

   Gender: Male
Age: 2 yrs. 3 mo.  Birthday: 2/2018 (est)
   Milo ID: 28807
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Phoenix is a gorgeous long haired flame-point boy with stunning blue eyes. We do not know much about his background except that he is from a hoarding situation. He is afraid of people so he may hiss at first, but once he gets to know you, he will let you pet him. He really needs an experienced cat person with patience and compassion to take him home and learn how to trust.

Phoenix is highly food motivated and this is a great way to build trust and a bond with him (he does LOVE wet food). His ideal home would be quiet and calm environment with no children.

   Name: BLUE

Breed: Chow Chow - Shepherd Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 3 yrs. 3 mo.  Birthday: 2/2017 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 28752
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Blue is a Chow Chow/Shepherd, medium-sized, about 2 years old, at 50 pounds. He is an attractive, friendly dog to everyone he meets. His chocolate or taupe-grey color, soft hair, flowing tail, and white paws give him a striking appearance Blue is a loving, active, intelligent young dog in need of a home with no other pets or animals. Dog parks should be avoided while he is being socialized and trained. He is micro-chipped, with current vaccinations. He is a very warm, nurturing dog in the home and does well with young children. Blue is potty and leashed trained, and can sit and lie down when commanded. He responds to hearing his name, food/treats, and new places to walk. Blue has lots of energy and loves to fetch ball. He does well with periods of rest after play/walk. He loves fetching his favorite squeaky ball. Blue’s new owners should consider themselves experienced at raising dogs and who are prepared to help Blue through his separation anxiety and with his socialization with other dogs.

Breed: Australian Cattle Dog - Hound Mix
   Gender: Male
Age: 3 yrs. 3 mo.  Birthday: 2/2017 (est)
   Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
   Milo ID: 28730
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
Taz is a whirling dervish of happiness! He actually is not likely a CAttledog - he has a very smooth coat, floppy ears, long, skinny tail, long legs. Energy and enthusiasm to spare! Fun dog for active people, he was originally fearful of men, but has come around (we have male staff) still likely a dog who will show stranger-danger response to some new men, and perhaps women entering his space or approaching his person when on leash - for this reason he really needs a confident and experienced dog handler/caregiver/companion so he knows he is not in charge - they are. He is a delight and ready for the right home!

Children in their teens a fenced yard and ideally another dog for sure will make a good situation for Taz! A running companion, training, consistency and lots of exercise this boy will make a great addition to the right home! Tall fences are a good idea as well!

$450 adoption fee and a 20-day built-in foster period.

April, 2020 Foster Notes: "Brewster is a really good boy. He is so loving and loyal to his “pack” of people. He will be protective over them, and does so out of love. He’s the biggest softie with his pack of his trusted companions. He knows sit, stay, paw, down, come, and is very good at waiting and very good at listening. He is very good on the leash. He is house trained and will let you know if he ever has to go out, which is a few times per day. He was very good about being on our wake / sleep schedule and sleeps soundly through the night. He loves a good walk / hike / run and can do 5-6+ miles or more every day. He is a beautiful dog - you will hear hundreds of comments on how handsome he is. He is German Shepherd mix with potential Malamute or Akita in him, we think. Beautiful, thick and soft fur which requires some daily brushing / de-shedding. When home, he’s loves to sleep, rest and get some scratches and love. He’s very sweet and loves to love and give kisses but he’s not demanding of your attention. He’s very quiet and rarely vocalizes at all at home. He does not beg for food, though he will never turn down a little piece of cheese or little piece of hot dog as a treat. He does need a home where he won’t be around many “strangers” because he wants to protect his house and his people as part of his nature. His learned behavior has been to protect and has bitten before and has a tendency to lunge and bark loudly at strange dogs / people / joggers on the leash so you will have to be very mindful of putting him in positions where he may feel the need to protect. After biting, he and the one he bit did umbilical training and built up great trust between the two - he is very smart and learns quickly and is open to accept another alpha male. He would be happiest in a rural setting with a yard to roam and with a steady number of companions in his pack that he recognizes. If he is going to be with other dogs or people regularly, he should be introduced to them carefully and he may need professional aggression training. Brewster is a very good boy and would be a loving, loyal companion to someone who can give him the right home for him. He deserves all the love and he will show it all back." * FOSTER NOTES *

Brewster is very smart. Training him in basic obedience was pretty easy but, as with all dogs, it takes constant reinforcement. He know sit, down, stay, heel and come. He knows to sit when I stop walking. When we’re home, he’s a complete couch potato, happy to sleep on his bed. He chooses to sleep in his crate rather than in bed with me. He loves running and activity but does not like being left alone so would be good in a home where you work from home or have someone around usually. He loves playing with other dogs, particularly when they’re off leash. He also is friendly toward dogs when they both are on leash provided the other dog is friendly. This is true in matter the size of the other dog. He isn't very food motivated. When training him, I resorted to using cut up pieces of hotdogs. Usually I feed him a combination of wet and dry food, which he sometimes ignores for hours. When it’s just the two us or someone that Brewster knows well, he’s a sweet dog. He doesn't like strangers so would do better in a home without a lot of guests coming and going. He also guards his bed so will need breed-saavy folks to be patient with him. No kids in the home as he can be mouthy but he is very receptive to correction. Sweet loving guy ready for training and his forever home!!

   Gender: Female
Age: 6 yrs. 3 mo.  Birthday: 2/2014 (est)

   Milo ID: 28707
   Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary
**My adoption fee is one half off! Adoption fee: $200.**

Melody has it all and wants to share it with her forever family! This beautiful nugget of a dog is smart, affectionate, and great with teenagers (16 & up). Young, energetic, and people-oriented, she just wants to play the day away with her people in a yard or go walking on trails.

Melody needs a firm guardian and correction for the jumping and nipping she does - small little grabs at clothes and occasionally that tiny little bit of a pinch on skin - she can be an exuberant jumping bean! We have worked with her but it needs to continue - trying to crop her wings and keep her grounded is a fete!

Melody is not a dog park dog, she is an alpha dog, and a super physical player. She is best suited to being the only dog in a home and no cats or young children. She is happy to run and play in a yard; she loves treats and may do scent work – hide and seek…. She is best with stay at home folks with a big yard and as a running companion! This girl is a real go-getter like a big active lab crammed into a tidy little chunk of a body that’s bursting at the seams!

Because of her active nature, Melody will do best in an environment with a tall, secure fence. Her above average intelligence has led her to become a bit of an escape artist and she is adept at climbing fences and opening doors (but not to run away... just to be with you!). However, these tendencies are fixable since Melody is a good listener who is eager to please and very treat motivated. Melody understands hand signals and voice commands, she will stop any undesirable behavior with correction, and making the effort, providing consistency and enough exercise she will want to please!

If you think you are ready for a go-getter-girl like Melody, come meet her at Milo today!

**Melody's adoption fee is one half off! Adoption fee: $200. Melody comes with a 20 day get acquainted period with her adoption, time to adjust to her new surroundings. Please give time and patience to new adoptees, particularly dogs from the Milo Sanctuary.

Lola may have a home to go back to ---- we are holding her. She is a delightful, solid dog for a rural lifestyle without too much social demands on her. She is great loose, off leash, loyal and loving, but lots of strangers coming and going into her space tax her temperament. She is a quiet, zen-like soul, observant and calm, patient - but also silly and playful with other dogs and the people she loves!

She is living at the main house at the Milo Sanctuary where she feels safe and has freedom to move, romp and play with others. She is an amazing dog in so many ways. NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

**2/18/19 FOSTER NOTES:
Meet Maggie. Born in a backyard and fed by people throwing food over a fence to her and her parents, this little girl had none of the training and social interaction so important to a puppy for normal development. She had no human contact and so is emotionally unavailable to people. She is fostered with 2 adults and 3 dogs and has bonded with a one year old Doberman female who she follows everywhere. She has learned to play with the dogs in the house and is starting to play with toys. She will come when called but will not get close; on occasion she will take food handed to her. She is food motivated but struggles to overcome her fear of people even for that. She will go outside with the other dogs but has not learned to go potty there. She will occasionally use pads but is not remotely house trained. To take her out on leash, she must be caught and then it is a struggle. Here, we use a harness and a slip lead for a backup because were she to get away we might not get her back. We have had her for about a month and progress has been slow. Maggie is not keen on small dogs so should be in a home with dogs her own size.** 2/28/19 FOSTER NOTE Maggie continues to inch along socially and it should be pointed out that even with all her fear, she does not growl or snap. She is also very beautiful.

Handsome SWEET middle aged fellow looking for his forever home!

He is obsessed with the outdoors and enjoys being outside more than in. He would be great in a family who has the time and energy to give him plenty of walks and adventures. With all Nordic breeds, make sure you've done research on the breed to make sure you can provide them with what they need!

Douglas would love a well fenced big yard to hang out in and spend time being adored by his people. Hikes and rides in the car, heading out to new horizons to conquer.... a great pal! Though not if you are a small dog or other “prey” - he is large dog friendly, but no small animals for Douglas!

$400 adoption fee.
